A single father in Russia has taken on this responsibility on his own, as he is raising his son with Down syndrome all by himself.
Many newborns that are born with Down syndrome are sadly treated differently and even sometimes left behind as their parents are afraid of taking on such a big responsibility.
However, growing up in a happy and healthy family can help any child have a chance at living a normal life.
Evgeny Anisimov is a single father living in Russia, and he is currently raising his son with Down syndrome all by himself since his wife decided she no longer wanted to be part of the picture as she was unable to handle her son’s diagnosis. While being a single parent is full of challenges, Anisimov has taken on the responsibility with a smile as he wants to prove to the world that every child is deserving of love.
This father’s mission is to help diminish the negativity associated with Down syndrome, as many people have turned away from taking on the responsibility of raising a child with the condition. As Anisimov has continued to share his and his son’s story with the world, he has continued to inspire many parents to never give up whenever they are faced with challenges.

According to Bored Panda, for every 700 to 800 children in the world, there is one child with Down syndrome. This condition is caused by an extra copy of one of the chromosomes, which affects the way the baby’s body and the brain develop. Anisimov admitted that when he first discovered that his son, Misha, had Down syndrome, he cried, “but not for long.” The 33-year-old father explained that Misha’s “life and future destiny are already very significant.”
While Anisimov went to work researching more about his son’s condition, the child’s mother had decided that she did not want to raise him. “Now I understand that she was just scared at the time, she started to act according to the wrong scenario,” Anisimov said about his wife’s decision to part ways with both him and their baby.
There have been many challenges along the way, but the father has stayed optimistic while raising his son. “This has changed my life,” Anisimov revealed. He added, “I lost my wife, but I am happy with the changes. My son is a very good and open kid like every other kid of his age, he loves me and it shows.”
Nowadays, Anisimov shares plenty of photos and videos of his adorable son with the world on his Instagram that show just how much fun the two of them have together. The single father’s goal has been to raise awareness about Down Syndrome and support families who face similar difficulties, as per the Bored Panda. “I hope that those who have difficulties now, as it was for us, read about us,” Anisimov said. “Have no fear! Everything will be fine!”
